Our objective is to ensure that business operations should not cause any accidents, damage or loss. For that reason our activities are planned, organised, executed and maintained in accordance with requirements specified in, or in support of, health, environment and safety legislation.
The safety measures shall protect:
- Human life and health
- The external environment
- Facilities and work/production
- Knowledge and information
Our employees are responsible for ensuring that their duties are performed in such a way as to prevent damage/injury to themselves, other people, equipment and materials. All employees in the company shall be given the necessary training in HES work, adapted to the individual person's function, to enable the specified requirements to be adhered to.
The person responsible for the business operation must ensure that internal controls are introduced and practised within the business and that this is done in collaboration with the employees and their representatives.
The employees shall participate in introducing and practising the internal controls.
Internal controls mean that the business shall:
- Ensure that legislation and regulations on health, environment and safety, applying to the business, are accessible, and have an overview of the requirements that are of particular importance to the business
- Ensure that the employees have sufficient skills and proficiencies in systematic health, environment and safety work, including information about changes.
- Ensure that the employees participate in such a way as to utilise collective knowledge and experience.
- Establish targets for health, environment and safety.
- Have an overview of the business's organisational structure, including the way responsibilities, tasks and authorities for the work on health, environment and safety are distributed.
- Chart any hazards and problems and, on that basis, evaluate the risks, and draw up associated plans and measures to reduce the risk conditions.
- Implement procedures for detecting, correcting and preventing any infringements of requirements specified in, or in support of, health, environment and safety legislation.
- Undertake systematic monitoring and reviews of internal controls to ensure that they are working as assumed.
The internal controls must be documented in the necessary form and scope, based on the nature, activities, risk conditions and size of the business. Documentation following from requirements in, or in support of, health, safety and environment legislation, such as instructions, permits, proofs of competence, certificates etc, must be included.
