History
SEAWORKS was established in 1995
SEAWORKS is a Harstad-based shipping company building infrastructure in Norway. The group of companies, comprising shipping and other companies, is an innovative market leader which perceives opportunities in its areas of operation when others have given up!
SEAWORKS aims to be a preferred company as regards quality, specially-trained workforce, the environment, safety and solution orientation.
Geir Tore Hokland was an owner and managed our company until his death in 2007.
In 1995 the first bulk ship was bought . Today we have 7 own ship and has many years of experience in operating selfdischargers along the Norwegian coast and in European service.
In 1997 we bought our first cabel - laying vessel. In Norway, SEAWORKS is market leader in the field of marine cable installations in coastal areas. During the period 1997-2010, the company installed about 750 communications and power cables at sea and in lakes. Together with our collaborative partners and subcontractors, we can supply all required marine cable services.
In 2003, SEAWORKS invested in three landing craft from the Norwegian armed forces. These vessels have been specially constructed for bringing ashore equipment in areas that have limited infrastructure. These vessels are fantastic tools of work for resolving tasks in the beach zone and for specialist charter along the coast. They have also been adapted for emergency oil spill response work.
The company ”Arctic Shipping”, founded in 2006, became a part of Seaworks group in march 2011. This company has two bulk vessels (MS"Polartrans" and MS "Arctictrans"), one tank- and ensilage vessel (MS "Akvatrans"), one fish carrier (MS "Frøytrans") and one ensilage vessel (MS "Biotrans"). “Arctic Shipping” operates as mediator in delivery of cargo, goods, job task, fish and cargo vessels.
MS "Akvatrans" and MS "Biotrans" has a unique and new developed fabric on board which is included in new bussiness area called AQUA BIO.
With our partner Biokraft Marine we will develop a transport of ensilage in future and cover all needs in this segment.
The SEAWORKS business concept is for us, via our operations concept, to be a preferred collaborative partner within our business areas.
Customer satisfaction is, together with our employees efforts and competency, a crucial factor for success.
